Interview with Nyx D. Johnson (@nyx_d_johnson)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Career path on social media is very different from a day-to-day one. I work in advisory (in particular in tax advisory), dealing with several industries and C-level clients all over the world. I’m passionate about fashion, make-up, travelling, reading and lifestyle and I decided to create an Instagram account in order to share my style and tastes. I think my account on Instagram is my “Datsuzoku” (a Japanese word that means “Freedom for habit or formula”). I’m really pleased with my professional life but, at the same time, I’ve set important goals for my social media account. I don’t think these two lives are irreconcilable: at the moment they coexist well. For my career path on social media, I chose a pseudonym inspired by Greek mythology: Nyx (Greek goddess of the night, with exceptional power… She is feared by Zeus himself…). My power is represented by determination and stubbornness. So I have achieved important goals in my professional life.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

An interesting story? Well, for the moment the interesting story is the following that I managed to attract. I am very proud of the results achieved so far. In social media, it is difficult to create content that can be attractive to audiences of different nationalities and ages. I will continue to strive to create the content of ever greater quality.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Look for your own distinguishing feature and not homogenize yourself. That’s it. In many cases, quality lies in the difference.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I’m grateful to all my friends and colleagues that are supporting me in this adventure. They make me want to go on. I am a very determined person and I would like to achieve ever more ambitious goals.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Six years ago I adopted my Galgo (Spanish Greyhound) Miss B. In the future I would like to found a shelter to house stray dogs and/or dogs that have been mistreated. I think a second chance exists for everyone, humans and animals.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door” (quote by Milton Berle). This quote is very much my way of thinking. Life offers opportunities, but it’s also up to us to make these opportunities reach us.

How can our readers follow you on social media?

I have an account on Instagram. Hopefully, in the near future, I will develop similar accounts on other social platforms.
