Interview with Mohammed Amiri (@bird_block)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Many people lack the knowledge of parrots, breed differences, and taking care of parrots the proper way as many of them are endangered. Parrots are very intelligent and require a special type of attention. Our part is to raise the awareness of parrots and to help people understand them better. Bird breeding is our passion as it gives us joy to see parrots and animals, in general, being well taken care of and in safe environments.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

I have never had any background on parrots when I adopted my first parrot, but I have always been interested in and reading about them. One night I slept and dreamt of a parrot speaking to me in my sleep, and not in a typical speaking manner of parrots. It was more human-like. When I woke up I understood it was time for me to start, and the very same day I went and adopted my first parrot.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Always focus on the good of giving back to nature and it’ll all be worthwhile.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Earlier in life, I have always been discouraged by my surroundings with every choice of hobby or work I have chosen to do, there has only been one person who has stood by me through thick and thin and that is my mother who I owe everything I have, she has supported me all the way and I thank her for that.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I didn’t focus on getting back when I chose to give.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” -John Lennon

That quote changed my whole perspective early on in life. As humans in today’s world we tend to chase happiness, what we don’t understand is happiness is a mindset.
