Interview with Maya Annette Goldstein (@mayagmusic)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I have always had a passion for music. I started singing at a young age. I was four years old the first time I sang in front of a stage. Then I discovered my interest in learning how to play instruments. Music is universal and fills my heart. I want people to relate to my lyrics and my music.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

Working with J Balvin’s father Don Alvaro Osorio in Medellin, Colombia (GoFar Entertainment). I sold everything in Miami and moved to Colombia to pursue my music career. I have met many singers and producers. This has been truly the adventure. I am beyond thankful for every single opportunity I’ve had these past two years.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Definitely to be humble towards everyone in the industry. You will always learn something from everyone. Learn how to listen to people that have been in the industry longer cause they know better. Don’t criticize other’s work. Learn how to take constructive criticism, it will help you in the long run. Don’t ever act like you’re better than others, at the end of the day we are all equal and trying to achieve the same goals and dreams.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I have a few people I definitely have to mention. Reijy and Legolax were my first producers and vocal directors. I met Reijy who is a well-known singer in Colombia at a nightclub dancing, we hit it off and started talking as friends. Then we started talking about music and that’s how it all came up, he connected me to his musical producer Legolax and the rest is history. Alvaro Osorio who helped me with all my media tours and interviews in Colombia. My manager Jaime Cano who is doing everything possible for me to live this dream.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I believe in giving back to the community. I have volunteered at some schools and done performances to help the communities out. Without your fans you’re not anyone, you have to remember that thanks to them you’re making it somewhere.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

If you can dream it, you can do it! I have always dreamed of being a singer since I can remember. My parents didn’t have money growing up, but I always managed a way to figure it out when it came to my music. Never give up!
