Interview with Loren Todd (@lorenntodd)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

My failing in life brought me to a point where all I wanted to do is write. I then began to record for fun, and people quickly told me to take it seriously so I did. Now I feel as if I make some of the best music with the best lyrics. And I want everyone else to hear.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

Once I joined a competition for a grand prize of $10k, I entered it not thinking I’d be a good competition because of my conscious lyrics. However, after I performed, everyone gave me a standing ovation and I won.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Stay consistent, stay true to yourself. Don’t switch up your music just because someone doesn’t like a track or album. If you know it’s great, it’s great. That’s all that matters.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I’m only grateful to God. I was homeless & suicidal for the first part of my rap career, I prayed every day. I dropped about 5 songs explaining everything how I felt, how I was living & how depressed I was, God eventually helped me out that mindset, got me a job and a nice apartment. I am now in an ideal position to take my career further.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I’ve spread my music across ears that need uplifting and motivation. I make music for people that go through the same issues as myself.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“At the end of the day, you only got you” that means a lot to me because everything I had to go through to accomplish where I’m at now, I did by myself. I had no help & no one wanted to help. They claim to be your friend except when it comes down to hard times. So I now know that I just should only depend and expect things from myself.
