Interview with Lewis Julian Tillman III (@iamclintonhill)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

My mother Tara Geter was a songwriter for Uptown Records, eventually leading to her writing credits for Destiny’s Child, Mary J Blige, etc. Music has always been in my blood. My father’s mentor is Clarence Avant, “The Black Godfather” as Netflix calls him. Living in NYC, after leaving my job at ICM Partners after college, Music, and photography have been all-encompassing.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

Probably recording my debut album in the Hamptons. It was the first time I was able to create and stay present at the same time. Also, it was my first photography commission, so that was fun.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Find multiple mediums that you enjoy. I love creating. I’m not a musician, or a photographer, or a writer, I’m just an artist.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I wouldn’t be here without people like Mark Kinchen or Oneal Micknight, people who’ve always kept me under their wing no matter how busy their lives are.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

By incentivizing the people around me to do the best they can with what they love. That’s all I’m doing. That’s all I’ve ever done.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Persistence pays off… Die trying”.

How can our readers follow you on social media?
