Interview with Geoff Matthew (@gkmusic90)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I have Mastering Engineer for 8 years in the music industry across the globe which began with me recording artists and mixing.

This has to lead me to do a course at SAE institute in mastering and learn from some of the best mastering engineers in the UK.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

I am managed to work on a project from Ester Dean team who is signed to Jay Z label Roc Nation and also B Slade who previously was one of the most famous gospel singers ever.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Keep going and keep learning every day. Also, learn to perfect your craft.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Wes Maebe who works at RAK Studios, one of the most famous in the UK. He taught me how to master initially and where the initial interest came from.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I have worked with artists from all backgrounds, genres, and artists who unfortunately don’t have the budget to get the best out of their music.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Short cuts make long delays.” This is relevant and elevated me to the next level when I realise you cannot take short cuts and need to learn and absorb everything around you.

If you need to invest in yourself or equipment to get there, then that’s what is required to achieve.
