Interview with Evgheniia Medvedeva (@hi.iam.jay)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Growing up music was always a passion of mine as my father was also a musician. I started to learn to DJ after a life-changing snowboarding accident that had me bedridden in 2007. I could not move so I started to learn how to DJ whilst I was in recovery from my surgery. I then went on to do a competition for young talented DJs in Russian 2008 I was the only female contestant and I received 2nd place. Then I moved to Moscow in 2010 and started DJing at the top underground club called Progressive Daddy. I also attend DJ school in Moscow to further my skills and techniques.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

This life is an adventure every time I have a gig. I feel like I’m living in a film. I meet so many interesting characters even some world-known celebrities I have played at their houses and private islands in the pacific. So for privacy purposes, this is all I can say. 🙂

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

The main tip I can give my colleagues in the industry to not burn-out would mainly get as much sleep as you can after gigs especially if on tour. Also, have as many personal comforts with you when travelling its the worst if you don’t have the things you need. Also, another tip to not burn-out is I meditate and do breathing exercises this helps with the fast-paced life musicians can have. Lastly, to keep myself grounded and not burnout a good tip is to have really good friends around or be able to speak to them at any moment having good personal relationships is key when I need to sometimes bring myself back to reality or to keep calm when I can’t myself.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Two people, I am especially grateful to be my father and older sister. It was my father being a music teacher who introduced me to music. And my sister because she inspires me as she is a great singer and makeup artist.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

My goal as an artist is to be able to express myself through music and to bring joy to people. I want to reach as many people as I can with my music globally. So the main goal is to keep producing and releasing music for the masses.

My business is a musician and DJ and has started production recently with a few releases out now. I started my brand because growing up music was my passion. My dad was also a musician. The goal is to reach as many people as possible through my music and hopefully, I can help the people with my music. And I eventually want to open my own label to help young and upcoming artists.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“If not now then when” This is relevant every day in my life as if you don’t take the chance when they present themselves then you may lose the opportunity forever. So when I feel something needs to be done I like to do it at that moment if it feels absolutely right because really why wait life is sort and the moment is NOW.
