Interview with Esra Keskin (@ektalent)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I chose to become a talent agent after attending a shoot as a guest for a high profile US Rapper and seeing how the women were being treated within the music industry. There are no rules or regulations within the modeling world to protect females so I decided to launch an agency that supported women in the modelling industry and music industry. My agency focuses on our client’s mental health, safety on set & general well being in the work environment.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

I would say the most interesting event has to be Travis Scott inviting me and my team to his London show and spending the night watching the show with Kendal Jenner and My models in VIP.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Focus on what you are great at! master a section of the industry before trying to do it all. For example, Being the best video model agent, the best Instagram influencer agent, or the best e-comm model agent is the best way to bring awareness to your brand this will also open many other doors along the way.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I would say artists Krept and Konan without realising it has been one of the main reasons why I joined the industry. They have been supporting the agency from the beginning and have opened many doors for EK Talent.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

My agency’s main focus has always been and will always be the mental health of females of all ages, cultures & jobs. We like to promote a healthy body image and continue to break the ideas of beauty in the industry at the moment. Working on campaigns to help young females love themselves and one another.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

Play by the rules, but be ferocious! This saying has always stuck with me. As a young female in this industry, it has been very difficult to find my voice. We get called Emotional and irrational when expressing our feelings in the workplace so I’ve found that if you stay calm and collected and stand by your opinions and morals you will never be stopped.
