Interview with Dylan Ogline (@dylanogline)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Probably best answered in the below questions.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

I spent years building my digital agency. I was obsessed with growth and getting to 1 million a year in revenue. Along the way, I started mentoring new entrepreneurs that I would meet.

Once I reached my growth goals I came to the realization that I wasn’t really satisfied. My work wasn’t truly rewarding. While it’s cool to help a business grow from 100k/month to 200k/month, that just helps their bottom line. I realized that I found it way more rewarding when I have helped folks who are making 1-3k a month go to 5-10k/month. When you help someone at that level it changes the fabric of their life.

I still own my agency ( but I’ve taken huge steps over the last year or two to automate as much as possible with an incredible team. This has freed up my time and allowed me to focus on consulting and mentoring new entrepreneurs on starting and growing their own digital marketing agency.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Focus on the 20% of your actions that will get you 80% of your results. Cut everything else. Then take a damn vacation. If you actually want to do something good. Something big. Something that actually matters, you can’t check your email every 5 minutes. You need to do less if you want to do more.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Tim Ferriss and the 4-Hour Workweek had a massive impact on my life. His teaching that you should focus on the 80/20 most important things was huge for me. Another is Sam Ovens. I’ve learned from Sam the system and tools to build a consulting business that is allowing me to focus on my passion for mentoring new entrepreneurs.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Mentoring new entrepreneurs. Which is now my #1 focus.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

Not really.

How can our readers follow you on social media?
