Interview @ VOTwear

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

After spending years in professional sports and graduating from medical school, I realised, there must be an easier way to get stronger, bigger, and faster. That’s when I discovered blood flow restriction training and decided to create the first-ever bfrwear!

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

In 2015, I was lucky enough to be invited to Oregon, where I pitched to Nike the prospect of having the world’s first hypertrophy accelerating wear (or BFR wear), little did I know that I’ll turn down their offer, and decide to build it on my own. A startup focusing on clothing that literally changes your genes.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Decision fatigue is a real thing. Remove as many variables from the first nine hours of our day as possible to eliminate decision fatigue. Meaning, get used to eating the same breakfast forever and wearing similar clothes too. This will tremendously boost your ability to keep making quality decisions longer into the day without burning out.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I wouldn’t have been here without our lovely team and investors. The only way I met them is simply by going through a design company. Design companies know almost everyone in every industry because that’s the common ground all product-based industries have in common: they all need a designer at some point. So if you need to get a hold of a certain investor or role, go through a design company, chances are, they will never let you down, as they’re the reason we found our investors.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

The CEO and Co.Founder Mehdi Ettehadulhagh have currently opened a nonprofit school for children in Eastern Europe, Romania where the goal is to build a cultural sanctuary where music, language, and values are taught. An oasis of spirituality and culture in a sea of unfortunate events. The school, called “Atelino” is growing bigger every year, but most importantly, it’s changed hearts daily.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“You are only remembered by the molds you break.” I couldn’t tell you where I heard it or if it came to me 9n my moments of meditation, but no one is remembered for conformity, and the world definitely doesn’t chance by conforming to old ways.

Simply, moulds are there to be broken, and it happens so rarely that, it’s usually what a person gets remembered for.
