Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Many things took place before I decided on going for Marketing Management. I initially started out with Computer Science. It was always my dream to work on computers and to create software that could benefit people. Unfortunately, I quickly realized how boring that career could be. Working on computers, you sit in front of a screen all day typing code. At least that was what I was doing. I didn’t interact with any people. It was just me and the computer in front of me. I am a social person, and doing this all day for a career was not for me. I decided to leave the computer world and delve into the business world of Marketing. This changed everything for me. I got to engage with more people and immersed myself into new social groups that excited me. I then knew marketing was where I belonged.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

Throwback to July 2018. I was in New York City on vacation with my girlfriend. We have been to NYC numerous times but can never get enough of it. Anyways, one day we decided to visit the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue. While in the store, I was telling my girlfriend of some idea I thought would be better for the store to display its products in a more modernized fashion. While I was telling her my ideas, Apple’s Regional Marketing Director for the New York and surrounding areas was standing close to us. He overheard me and approached us. He complimented my ideas as impressive and something that “Steve Jobs would think of.” This excited me and motivated me more than ever. He gave me his card and asked that I reach out to him in the future. You never know who’s listening!

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Stay organized! The more organized you are the more you can manage the workload. Marketing has a lot of work involved. There are many ideas flying around and many clients to attend to. Keep yourself organized and prepared and you will thrive. Also, do not overwork yourself. Make time to relax and enjoy it. Travel when you can and see the world. We do not live to work. Life is short. Take a break. Stop and smell the roses every now and then.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

The previous company I worked for is where I met my mentor. He was the Director of Client Outreach. I call him Mister Miyagi because he basically trained me to face challenges in the business world. I questioned many things but he always had the advice to give me that helped me greatly. For instance, one day I was working on a project that seemed to be never-ending to me. It posed an extreme challenge. I ended up walking outside to catch a break. Mister Miyagi follows me outside and sits beside me. He says “What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger.” Sure, that is a common saying, but it applied perfectly to that day. The fact he stopped his work to tell me that was a boost of confidence. I will never forget it.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I sure have! I have traveled to many places and brought my stories with me. I have talked to many strangers and gave them all the advice I have learned so that they could better themselves. I even visited a school in the Dominican Republic and talked to the kids there. It was amazing being able to teach them how to prepare for the real world.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

My favorite saying ever is “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” This applies to every aspect and moment of my life. Everything I do is based on this saying. Life is short and we have to live it to the fullest. That means enjoy the little moments. make people smile, try new things, and be kind when you can.
