Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
Ben: I have always loved singing for as long as I can remember. My Nan taught me piano and my mum taught me a guitar when I was a kid. I started writing songs from there and performed whenever and wherever I could. In my first band, I got my first taste of performing at festivals and I always get a buzz off that, but equally, I love writing and producing in the studio – be it for EchoStorms or for clients.
Katya: To be honest for me this is all been incredibly interesting, a year ago I wasn’t involved in any musical projects although I am classically trained in piano and music theory and I have always loved to sing and play guitar for my friends, then I met Ben and after a while, we formed EchoStorms together and now we have already nearly finished our album, done live-stream gigs, photo, and video shoots and now we are about to release our first single! The last year has been crazy, awesome, and completely unexpected!
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
Oh my God, we have so many funny and crazy stories but you probably wouldn’t be allowed to print most of them haha! One memorable moment would definitely be when we were shooting our promo shots which involved as lying down in the road which perhaps would’ve had life-threatening results if there had been a normal volume of traffic but even then the photographer had to jump out in front of a speeding delivery van to avert disaster!
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Always aim to do something you love with someone you love and you’ll always be happy – that’s our motto and it generally works out pretty well!
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
Ben: My Nan was an amazing pianist and a music teacher and she introduced me to the world of music when I was really young so I really owe a huge amount to her. In the music business, I would have to say our mate Ed Buller who always gives the best advice. Most importantly in life in general it would have to be Katya – the best life partner and bandmate I could ever wish for!
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
We are a new band and haven’t had a chance to bring goodness to the world yet other than through our music, but in the future, we would like to follow in the footsteps of Elton John. Not only is he a brilliant musician, songwriter, and performer but he has used his talent, fame, and fortune to support good causes and young musicians.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
However bad things are they can always get worse – for example, COVID-19! On the other hand, our motto is “never give up on your dreams”. Beautiful things can happen in your life when you least expect them!
