Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
One summer my brother took a giant VHS video camera for his 15th birthday. We immediately began filming movies all summer long! We’d film short movies that were action, comedy, and even scary/horror movies. Even playing with the perspectives as they did in Charlie and the Chocolate factory films during the scene when the young boy was sunken down in the TV.
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
Fast toward to when I was in my early 20’s, I took up acting lessons and got cast to play an extra on the set for a feature motion picture called “Extraordinary Measures” that was filmed in Portland, Oregon, with Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser. While on a filming break, Brendan let me play a new game on his phone called “The Idiot Game” and boy did it make me seem stupid. It was all done in good fun. I could see Harrison Ford off in the corner looking at me as if I didn’t reach the first grade! Good times and good memories there.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
I feel you should always be learning something new and be constantly training. To be an actor your mind needs to be sharp and quick. You need to have a healthy mind and body. So eat your greens, read, train, and learn! Also, meet new fellow actors often, have some friends that you can talk to shop with, and encourage one another.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
Yes, that’s very true, we all need mentors. I have had some mentors that give me inspiration and motivation because they are so high up in the industry, it’s really a beautiful thing to see someone at the height of their game. Then, I also have people that are yet closer to me who I talk with almost daily, and we motivate each other. We also write movies together and maintain each other’s spirits high. You need to hold a good outlook on life with this business. There are ups and there are downs. You simply try to have more ups.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
I really like to bring goodness to the universe. I feel the media such as movies, films, and songs have so much influence on people, whether the person watching it is three years old or 97 years old. I also have a workout series out as well called “Muscles and Meals” That’s where I help people learn how to cook better, as well as work out from home or at the park.
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
One of my best friends from childhood, Ben Fiebleman told me once, “ABC”. That, which stands for Always Be Creating. I have a photograph of Ben up in my office on my vision board of him with a sign that reads ABC “always be creating”. Hence, that quote has me quite busy! I have notepads they could probably stretch from Los Angeles to New York. I just can’t wait for all of you to experience the wonderful projects that my production company and I will be putting out in the near future.
