Interview with Mikael Rochman (@_youngzion)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

My whole life I moved city to city, country to country but always knew that as a Jew my true home was Israel. Since I was a child I always knew I would volunteer to join the IDF after Highschool and during my senior year of high school I just couldn’t wait to start fighting for my country. I always loved music and one day one of my homies in Miami took me to the studio to see him record a track. I spent some of my time there writing a song on my phone and since there was extra studio time in the end I asked if I could record something. That song is “Zion” and from there I found a talent that I was always too shy to show the world. Since I was looking for ways to defend my country before the army I decided I would do that through music and that’s how it all started. Throughout my army service as a Paratrooper, I didn’t have much time to focus on music but whenever I got spare time I would put on a beat and write songs. Eventually, when I had a one month break to see my family in Los Angeles I recorded all of the songs I had written and dropped a few of them as singles. Now that I am done with the army I have decided to really focus on music and am currently in Album Mode.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

How I started the story that I wrote above.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

I would say to stay independent. Even though getting a deal might accelerate your growth and is an easier path to fame it is a lot smarter and better to find your own way to get big and keep all of your rights and freedom.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

For the most part, I do all of this music alone. I’m grateful for my parents who gave me the initial funding to start making music and invested in a home studio for me.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

My main goal with my music is to empower Zionism and shift societies’ negative perception of it as what Zionism truly is is the aspirations of indigenous people (jews) to return to their native homeland (Israel). Other than that I speak on many other social issues and anything I want to see change for the better.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

I’m always trying to do as much as I can in a short time because I know our time on earth is limited. Elon Musk said “Stop being patient and start asking yourself, how do I accomplish my 10-year plan in 6 months? You’ll probably fail, but you’ll be a lot further along than the person who simply accepted it was going to take 10 years” I really believe that I have a mission in this life to impact so many things and I always try to do everything as if I don’t have much time left.
