Interview with Stephen Asamoah (@steven.shakes)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

My passion for fashion is an obsession that grows day and day. I want people to understand art is inspired by life and one way to discover the silver lining is through photography.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

“Steven Shakes, You Inspire me.” I was told I’m a big inspiration from a peer and for someone my age to see me as his inspiration did nothing to me but to keep getting better and better every day.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

I’ll quote a quote by NIKE. “Yesterday You Said Tomorrow, Just Do It”. Consistency is the key to success. As long as we’re consistent, we can be whoever we want to be.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

They say people are contagious. I admit. I admit when you surround yourself with negative people, you’ll never be confident. I’ve friends who inspired me, gave me so many reasons why I can and not the reason why I cant. A good friend of mine called Kunche. He talked about a quote by Albert Einstein. He said; “Time Is Relative, Maybe you’re not late, maybe they’re rather too early” Anytime I feel like giving up, this is what I say to myself. Also another friend of mine, Richmond Atuahene. He told me “Shakes, Even A Dead Clock Is Right Twice A Day”. I think surrounding myself with people who feed me with this kind of inspiration helped me a lot and motivated me not to give up.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I help to make this world a better place by spreading love. I’ve made people my age, below and above believe that “we’re all looking for something” Our generation is much focused on getting rich and living luxurious life but I let them know the life they love has been lived before and there’s more to life than being rich but until they become rich, they’ll never believe rich people are still looking for something.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Face Your Fears.” One thing that I know is the fear of failure and negativity has kept many people in captivity. I want people to breathe and take things easily. Being over-cautious creates too much fear. They say if it’s easy, everyone will be a millionaire. People must aim above average. We shouldn’t let fear limit our potential. We need to take risks and if we fall, we need to try again because life’s all risk. Nothing is riskier than going to bed knowing you might not wake up the next day. FACE YOUR FEARS.
