Interview with Jawonza Hussain (@jaehussain)


Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path? 

I have been playing with instruments since I was a child. My grandfather had an organ and acoustic guitar and I would try to play them all day long. I started playing the violin and viola in 7th grade all the way through high school. I was in a gospel choir in high school and got to sing with the famous gospel group trinity 57.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this? 

Sube taking my music production seriously I landed my first placement in 2018 the same year I put myself out there. Today I have worked with artists such as Richard Nash of the 5th ward boyz out of Houston Texas. 

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”? 

Stay loyal to creating your own unique sound. 

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story? 

I think that there is more than 1 person I can name that helped me along the way. There are many such as Bravo, YoGutta, Reck 442, TraeBoy, Henny Ceasar the list goes on. 

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world? 

I believe music heals and I just hope my music is healing someone. 

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life? 

Treat others how you want to be treated.
