Interview with Smokey sims (@smokey_sims)


Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path? 

I come from the south Bronx born and raised it was some tuff times there Me and my brother were only Raised by my mom.

My mother had to pay bills so she worked and went to school so we can have a better future while she was gone we were around the streets we went through a lot of fights and crossfires in the projects. I’ve lost a lot of friends and family do to gun violence and gang violence. Some times we look to escape with our talent it causes happiness laughter put a smile on your face and others. 

And that’s what I did use everything that I saw everything that happened to me good or bad and use all that energy towards my craft witch is entertaining whether it’s music acting or dancing. 

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this? 

Since this pandemic, all acting and club promoting for me have stopped. I had nothing else to do so I decided to make music I’ve been recording ever since there was one time that they have given New York a curfew no transplantation from 1am to 5am. I had studio time at 3 am I live in manhattan right now I had to walk all the way from Hell’s Kitchen to East Tremont. To record a song because I refuse to back down on what I started and I was not getting that money back. lol 

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Life is a big classroom remember you are the answer to your problems. You can mathematically solve the equation. 

Your success you can scientifically break your plan down to its molecules you can create your story from learning from history.

You can write down and read out your destiny. 

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story? 

I’m grateful for my mom my friends and family that was really there for me I’m grateful for life. 

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world? 

Yes, I’ve performed at some charities like the model and some of my songs and I’ve used my skill of cooking to cook for a woman’s shelters.
