Interviews with Paolo Dughero (@shakerec)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I started studying music at the age of 6 years specializing in piano and classical guitar. For many years I toured Italy and abroad with various bands until in 2001 I decided to create Shake Records.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

In 2004 I went to Miami for the Winter Music Conference. Walking on Lincoln Road I met Giorgio an Italian American. He hears me speak Italian and so we start conversing. He tells me to work for the famous singer CORONA “The Rhythm of the Night” and to be able to get in touch with her. After a few months, we produced “Back in time” together for CORONA. This means that anything can happen!

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

My advice is to always follow the evolution of the market. Because in music there has always been and rapidity of change.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I owe my luck to those who believed in me. My family first but along the way, the partnership with Warner Chappell Music was fundamental and in particular to Roberto Razzini managing director. After the successes with Corona, Double You, etc it was he who signed an agreement with my company and made it grow

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I think that the luck we have received should be shared with those who have been less fortunate than us. For this reason, I dedicate myself to volunteering and donations to structures close to me and with which I can collaborate

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

I don’t have a particular quote but I have many experiences that have made me better know people and the world. I believe that observing and listening is the most important thing. As young people, we tend to act without stopping to understand but with experience all these changes at least for me it were like this. Respect and sacrifice are very important to me in life as in work. I remember working with many young people who want to achieve success without sacrifices …. this cannot happen. Only with sacrifice and respect can one grow and mature.
