Interview with Daniel Kaye (@drkayebeats)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Well I’ve always been a huge music lover ever since I can remember, so music as a career has always played on my mind, but I think the definitive moment was actually when I was in college studying Tv and Film. We used to have to go on to Logic Pro to use on foley editing etc. So at that point, I finished that course and decided to move to London and go to Access to music college in Bow, East London, ever since then I knew what direction I wanted to go in.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

I would say the most interesting story would be when I went to attend a show a few of my mates were performing at and when it came down to the last song we all rushed on stage a started moshing, and jumping about I accidentally stood on someone’s foot and didn’t think much of it until I looked up and noticed it was only Lethal Bizzle! Still can’t get my head over it to this day.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Just keep going, there’s no special formula or tricks or cheat sheets, just persevere and stick out, you can’t be ignored forever so just keep at it, your big break could only be round the corner.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I’ve got a select few people I would give credit for my success. The first person would have to be my other half Emma as she has stuck by my side from near the beginning up until now. The second person would have to be Double S due to his wisdom, encouragement, and support. There are many others as well that have definitely supported me on my journey.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I would like to think I have sprinkled a fair bit of happiness in people’s lives with my music and hope my journey can encourage others to never give up.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

The only life lesson quote that sticks out in my mind is something that the actor Will Smith once said which was something on the lines of, you don’t start off with a wall but you have a brick and if you keep placing a brick down every day as perfectly as you can, eventually you will have a perfect wall.
