Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Acting has always been a passion of mine, only when I was a child, I was far too shy to pursue it. It wasn’t until I was 19 when my Dad said he would attend classes with me that I actually ever thought it would be possible. The first thing I then had to learn was how to say my name with confidence in front of others, which when you are shy, is a really hard thing to do! But now, anyone who knows me has no idea that I ever used to be so shy, and it’s all thanks to my Dad who pushed me in the right direction.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

Oh, there are far too many stories. One of the cuter stories is probably when we were filming one of our short films in the Senate Gardens near the Old Parliament House, and there was a group of school kids gathered around, watching us. When we went on break they came and asked me for my autograph and they had no idea who I even was! But because there were cameras around, they must think anyone with a camera on them is famous. This is definitely not the case, but it was very cute!

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Don’t give up! Patience and Commitment is a virtue! Failure too is something to always be proud of! You first must fail before you can actually get anywhere! Goodness, I know I’m still trying and failing!

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Gosh, I have had help from many people in my life, pretty much everyone in my life has helped in their own way! But again, without my Dad’s initial push, I never would have even tried in the first place. I owe my Dad a great deal of appreciation which I try to show as much as I can.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I meet a lot of people who are also striving to get to where they want to be, just like myself, and many of which always come to me for help and guidance, calling me at all times of the day and night and I always do the best I can to give them my advice or feedback or knowledge from my own experiences, but I also have people who I go to for the same thing! Everyone always needs help in their own way.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

My favourite quote has always been “Hakuna Matata”. I love the message behind the words, and it’s definitely my problem-free philosophy. Also, The Lion King has always been my favourite movie since I even knew what movies were!

How can our readers follow you on social media?

I tend to mostly only stick with Instagram, so by searching my full name shanieleesmith in the search bar, that is where I’ll be!
