Interview with Abin Sam (@abinsamofficial)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

It is indeed a great honour for me to be a part of this. Well, I thank God for everything. My name is Abin Sam. I am the founder of Archangel Studios which is a combined platform for Music Production, Architecture, and Visual Arts. Yes, I am an Architect and a Sound Producer. Sometimes, I sketch, draft, render, and do crazy things to balance this life. Well, it is a long story, can’t express it in a small note. I was born in 1992 in India and grew up from God’s Own Country to the Capitalistic Dome. When I examine my life, I work on Architecture, Design, and Music too. There is not a primary path while I describe on the basis of work. I split the paths for a wider perspective. But, I still remember the times, when I was made fun of in-class sessions, college, and even while I was in training. Life was never easy and at those times, I looked back at all the failures I had gone through and was determined to achieve something. But yes, the story which taught me to move on is after my pet passed away in my lap. I had achieved a lot of milestones while he was there with me. When he passed away, it was too much to bear and I moved on thinking that whatever I have to achieve, I need to place my wonder dog and move on with hope. That is what life is all about. We might dream and imagine, but some things are snatched from us before time. However, if those things are placed properly if we keep them in assigned virtue. Miss You Buddy!

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

Well, if it’s about architecture, it’s God who gifted me the talent of drawing and sketching and so it was but natural to dive into this field. I had started my career as an Architect from drafting a line to the layout work of a skyscraper. The interesting thing was my dad kept on motivating me to reach the goal which was set. “Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced” – said by Danish philosopher Soren. This is what my dad taught me to excel in solving a problem and move on by finding ways to solve it. He taught me to value every small thing, be it a sharp pointed needle. This is the biggest story of hope I rely on while I face my life challenges. When I consider Music, it is a never-ending journey. At the initial stage, I never bothered to study music staff notes, but as time proceeded, I understood the purpose behind learning them. I started to master them and set my goals. Slowly and steadily, I am conquering each phase so that one day I can set my empire. Well, please check my music album “Survivor”. If you listen to the background scores, I have used a combination of multi experimental and orchestral style of music. Check it Out! 😀

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

They say Success is reaching a predetermined goal and accomplishing something with a purpose. Indeed, it is a desire, a drive to do something meaningful, important, significant, valuable, or substantial that has an impact on your life and other people. Always have a positive outlook on life. Things may seem difficult and hard to comprehend. The goal we have set for ourselves may not seem in sight. We should never “burn out”. Indeed, we should learn to move on with the best. I would like each one of you to understand that “WE ARE SUPERHEROES WITHIN OURSELVES”. We need to achieve them by walking through the path of failures and successes. Yes, success is not easy. No matter what, TRY AND KEEP TRYING TILL YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT! NEVER BACK OUT! That’s the message!

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

My mother. I thank my God for giving her to me. It is just by her prayers and her faith in my capabilities that I am here right now. I still remember the times when I wouldn’t practise the music lessons during my childhood. At those times, my mom used to spend a lot of time with me trying to inculcate interest in music and arts. Her continuous encouragement and support even in times of my failure made me motivated to learn music on my own. I studied, went back to my teacher, gave the Music Grade Exam in Trinity School of London, and secured 99/100. Later, I composed an instrumental for Hard Rock Rising and got nominated for the Instrumental Feature. Later I released my first Christmas Album “Christ has Come” in 2014 and then started working on background scores for short films, sessions, and even midterm scores. As time passed by, the desire to have my own music studio design started to engulf me. This desire changed to reality when by sheer hard work and perseverance I could set up two studios. I eventually released 6 singles and then my song was in the list at Reverbnation Panel and Muslate Artist Label. In early 2019, I went to Factory Studios in London and worked on Orchestral Choirs. Then, I came back to India and introduced Summer Camp for kids in Music, Calligraphy, and Design. It was a great kick start for Master Class Campaign. Later, I released an instrumental album “SURVIVOR” based on my life journey which was a highly anticipated series as it was shot on sequels. Then I recorded 15 Songs during Lockdown Session in Australia and thus, released my singles about Hope during Pandemic 2020. Well, God gifted our mothers with a purpose and this is because they have a unique plan to nurture us in a direction which one can’t even think! Thank you so much Mom!

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Yes. I used failures to define my success. No matter what, my dad always taught me to keep on trying, because at every step I march forward, I attain heights where I can’t measure. It is only by God’s grace I am what I am. With my music, I tend to connect with people in a way that suits my personality. This widens the playing field enormously. There are instances when shy and introverted people might discover an amazing talent for performing that they would have been completely unaware of otherwise. This all happens when we start to teach them something with a purpose. Even now, I desire, to create a module where I can start teaching the basics of production as Do-It-Yourself Theme for the generations to come. Yes, together we can do Wonders!

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

My favourite life lesson quote which motivated me is -NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I FAIL, I WILL NOT STOP TRYING. Life’s lessons are a beautiful gift bestowed by God. They aren’t always compact or wrapped up for the best. They may be struggles and pain but they eventually make us wise and a better human in this race. No matter how they come to us, life’s lessons are invaluable and worth cherishing. No matter, what we do, or strive hard for success, we might fail in the process. But remember, in the end, we would have learnt a lot in our life. It is because of this that one day, the people who didn’t believe in you, will tell the world how they met you.
