Interview with Edgar Castillejos (@edgar.castillejos)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I started my own Marketing Agency because I saw how helpful this would be to businesses, after meeting so many business owners that had their business fail because they could not get it in front of the right audience I decided to solve that problem and help business owners and digital entrepreneurs get in front of the right audience so they could succeed, and I truly enjoy providing that help and knowing I form part of someone else’s success.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

When I first launched my marketing agency I was trying to get clients, I remember very well I would text 50 to 100 businesses every day, and at first, I saw no success, it was a little discouraging, and at one point I shared my frustrations with a friend of mine, we have known in other for over 3 years and while I was expressing my frustrations he told me he could put me in contact with a local business owner that runs one of the most successful businesses in my home town, turns out he know the owners and I never knew this, I found that to be interesting, he put me in contact with him, we were able to come to an agreement and since then I’ve been working with them helping them grow even more.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

I would recommend creating an effective management system that will help them get the weight off their shoulders, without this managing a large amount can be a nightmare and really burn you out quickly, having a team member is also a great idea, this will help you split the responsibilities of the company so that you are no the absolute only person that has to be stressing about all of this, and last but not least do not chew more than you can swallow, it’s easy to be enticed by the money coming in to take on a new client, but if you are already working at max capacity do not bring a new client, because at that point you will have 2 choices, do a bad job for one of your clients to make the new one happy or drawn yourself in an endless pit of work.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I’m a US citizen that grew up in Mexico when I was 17 I decided to move back to the US by myself, I was homeless, and broke, not only financially but also mentally, I was also a little depressed that I couldn’t make any friends because I didn’t speak any English, so I started learning and I came across someone that I will forever regard as a really close friend and to some extent a “savior”, he was the very first person to expose me to the business world, and mindset, I went from being a broke, homeless 17 years old to be your entrepreneur, and altho the business model he exposed me to could not be farther from what I currently do I truly believe that without his help I would never have gotten out of that whole I was in back then.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

My business is basically based on helping businesses and entrepreneurs achieve their goal if I don’t deliver good results I wouldn’t have clients, and I use my success to attract more clients so I can help them because even more successful.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.”, before I became successful with my business I had a lot of failed attempts at greatness, and I was always wondering what I was missing, I was always trying to look for that “Secret ingredient” or the “key” to success, turns out this whole time I was having dreams, I was always thinking big about what my life was going to be when I became successful, but it was not until I started writing down my dreams that I was able to have concrete goals which I will then go on and break down into steps to then have a plan I could carry out and this is when success started coming my way.
