Interview with Simran Preet Singh Panesar (@preet.panesar)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

My dream was to get into the film industry as an actor/producer so mainly that is what got me into this industry. I have studied theater and a little bit of film making during my university tenure. When I was a kid I would often watch action movies only like most boys and think of various ways of doing those actions after watching something and sort of making it my way, hence the film making part.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

The most interesting thing and sort of weird thing actually are that people who never spoke to me before or the ones who I have had issues with in the past are now trying to be very close and build a relation.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Just keep your focus strong and be mentally and of course physically fit. There are ups and downs with everyone but the key to thrive is to be persistent and honest with your work.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Honestly, there are very many people who have been the pillar of my success. My significant other has seen my struggle and for sure she gives me the strength to keep continuing. My family including my in-laws has been a fantastic support throughout. I want to mention my friends like family all the way from India- Praveen Bhat, Suhail Bhat, JSL Singh. These folks made my film-making in Punjabi songs a dream come true. One special story I would like to definitely share it with my dad. He told me, before the last time I saw him at the airport, that I have built something for you so that your future will be much easier and where you can be “self-made”. I am in the works of making some films in Hindi Cinema and its definitely going to be dedicated towards him.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Be it in a successful phase of life or a normal person living type, I think just being ethical to people and sharing my knowledge with the people is the best way I think I have brought goodness to the world. These things should be collectively done by everyone.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

Be yourself. Be ethical. Do not hurt anyone and do not blow your own trumpet. This has always been my go-to guide throughout. I lost my dad when I was 18 and ever since then, I am the bread earner for my family. I have always made sure I do what is to the best of my abilities of course ethically and not mentioning or taking pride in what I have done. The actions itself should be notice-able for people to speak for themselves.
