Interview with Ryan B. Sexton (@dynamic.pupil)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I have a natural love for music. Music is life. Music as an artistic outlet is therapeutic. I also have a good eye for photography. I enjoy the natural beauty of the world around me.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

Since I started doing music I’ve met some amazing artists from around the world. My most interesting story would be… when I met Chris Reid (Kid) in L.A. I picked him up with Lyft. He got into the front passenger seat and was such a nice guy. I shared my music with him and he said, “keep going, you’ve got potential.” That was an awesome experience and it motivated me tremendously.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Gotta stay positive and keep your vision solid. You can’t achieve unless you put in the hard work and believe in yourself 100%. Gotta try to maintain a balance in your personal and professional life to avoid becoming burnt out or jaded.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I met Bryson Tiller in L.A. I picked him up with Uber. He was a chill dude, very down to earth. I played him a freestyle I recorded. He said, “wasn’t half bad, HALF.” To me that meant I need to take my music way more seriously and work harder if I’m going to make my dreams come true. Thank you Bryson for the encouragement!

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I feel like I have impacted a few people’s lives with my music. I’ve made songs for friends (girls). Most notably Demi and Jaylon. They are both wonderful amazing women. They absolutely love the songs I’ve made for them. That motivates me so much.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Life isn’t fair.” It’s true. I’ve been through a lot in my life and I’ve become stronger and smarter because of it. We are not all born equal, unfortunately.
