Interview with Jay Moir (@jaymoir_)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I am a wheelchair user with cerebral palsy. I joined the gym and became really passionate about it. I wanted to help other disabled people live a more active, healthy, and positive lifestyle. I became the owner of my own website. http://www.jaymoir.com and have become Scotland’s first wheelchair-using gym instructor.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

I have participated in lots of charity work, including a 10k bike ride, and volunteering with a music school for the disabled. I have also done work with the Harlem Globetrotters, and have made a handful of TV appearances. I also recently became Scotland’s first wheelchair-using gym instructor.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Follow your dreams, never give up, and think about what you can do, not what you can’t!

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I have participated in lots of charity work, including a 10k bike ride, and volunteering with a music school for the disabled. I have also done work with the Harlem Globetrotters, and have made a handful of TV appearances. I also recently became Scotland’s first wheelchair-using gym instructor.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

By coaching others with disabilities and allowing them to become more positive, both physically and mentally, meaning they now lead a more positive and healthy lifestyle.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“The only disability in life is a bad attitude” – this helped me believe in myself and join the gym, leading to me now helping others.
