Interview with Andrew Raine (@drewraine)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

My decision to make music started at an early age. I was highly creative and always looked for outlets for my creativity. I created songs that made me happy, songs that made me emotional. I never realized other people liked my music until “So Into You” hit radio and blew up my social media.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

Drew Raine took celebrating the launch of his music career a little too hard and partied until his lung collapsed. He spent nearly 2 weeks in a hospital in Scarborough recovering from spontaneous pneumothorax. He recently tattooed over his rib cage to hide the scars from the surgery.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

The heart of any successful music career is persistence and do not take rejection personally. Music is subjective and lets your fans grow organically and build your network not burn them.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

After pitching Steve Anthony an ex Much Music VJ, I got the call from Karl Wolf who invited me over to his crib and we literally knocked out “You Are” in an hour.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Drew Raine’s oldest daughter was born with a disability. He realized there is a huge need for support for children with disabilities and has been supporting and involved with Sick Kids Hospital, Mt Sinai Hospital, Autism walkathon, and various other charities and foundations.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

Perspective is everything and you are not in competition with everyone else in the world. Enjoy the journey and the moments!

How can our readers follow you on social media?

I’m pretty active on Instagram @drewraine and Facebook under DrewRaineFanpage. Starting to get the hang of twitch and TikTok.
