Jabu Graybeal (@jabuworld)


Jabu Graybeal was born in Pittsboro, North Carolina. He is multitalented; he possesses the skill of dancing and producing, but is currently focusing on making music. Jabu Graybeal studied with JUBA award winner Gene Medler of the Chapel Hill Ballet School. Jabu Graybeal was a part of one of the most famous youths tap companies. North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble (NCYTE) is one of the most famous dance companies in the world. Jabu was a member here for 9 years.

Jabu was called on to perform for the dance organization in 2019 at the historic Red Lion Inn. Jabu was also an alum of the YoungArts Foundation. Jabu Graybeal expertly acquired skills and expertise from these dance organizations and applied them to his techniques. Consequently, he has worked with a range of different organizations that have appreciated Jabu for his talent. Jabu has worked with Caleb Teicher & Company, Chloe Arnold’s Apartment 33 and band and Postmodern Jukebox.

He is very active on social media. He shares his photos, videos, and updates with his fans and followers on social media. He has more than 11,000 followers on his Instagram page.

Jabu Graybeal has danced with talented people such as Pierce Freelon and The Beast, Durham jazz trumpeter Al Strong and Pittsboro’s own ZamBamBooGee. Moreover, Jabu Graybeal was featured in one of the most famous dance magazines in the world, Dance Spirit Magazine. He was featured in the December 2017 issue and was praised greatly for his skills and talent.

Jabu was nominated by Michelle Dorrance in the Dance Spirit Magazine. Michelle had nothing but positive statements to describe Jabu’s talent. She remarked that he had endless potential and the sky is the limit for him. He has great skills and technique and apart from being a gifted dancer, he is also a talented musician. Michelle went on to say that she believes that Jabu has a deep connection with music and beats. Michelle also compared Jabu Graybeal to the legendary tap dancer Gregory Hines. Dorrance also said that Jabu is not afraid of taking risks to better his performance. The magazine featured him in the article titled “Meet Tap’s New Generation Stars” in November of 2017. All this praise is backed up by Jabu’s achievements. Jabu Graybeal was the first tap dancer in history to be accepted by the Berklee Global Jazz Institute Workshop at the Newport Jazz Festival.

Jabu was also featured on Robbielink.com and was appreciated greatly on their website. To add to this, Jabu was featured on SwitchPoint’s website when he was only 14 years old, while he was a part of the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble (NCYTE).

After honing his skills and growing his success, Jabu Graybeal decided to showcase his talent to different parts of the United States. Jabu Graybeal announced his tour with Postmodern Jukebox in early 2020 and unveiled that he will be performing all across the United States. He will perform in states such as New York, Florida, Maryland, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Michigan, Maine, and Wisconsin. Apart from lighting up in the United States, Jabu Graybeal also plans to perform a show in Toronto, Canada.

On the topic of famous magazines, Jabu Graybeal was featured in a post by Vogue in October of 2018. The post was titled “The 2018 National Arts Awards celebrated Extraordinary Achievement, Philanthropy, and Leadership”. The article featured a smiling and dancing Jabu Graybeal lighting up the stage.

Apart from taking over the art of tap dancing, Jabu also recently started making music professionally. In October of 2019, he released his first single “Lonely” featuring Godspeed. The track had a rhythm and blues vibe to it. After the success of his single, Graybeal released yet another single in 2020 titled “Lemonade” in collaboration with Logan Kroothoep. The song, unlike its preceding one, was a pop song and had a funky upbeat tune. Jabu Graybeal started 2020 with a rap-style single “We’ll Be Fine” and after it started to take off, he released a fully-fledged album in March 2020. The album was titled “Perfect Imperfections” and can be regarded as a Rhythm and Blues work of art.

Jabu Graybeal is a wonderful artist and multidimensional personality. His popularity is steadily growing and it is certain that it will continue to grow in the future.
