Interview with Michael Bond (@bondpapi)


Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path? 

Seven years ago I was involved I suffered from a sports injury that left me with slipped two slipped discs and a dislocated tail bone. There was the fear I’d never walk again barring surgery but I managed to get my legs back 18 months later. After undergoing long intensive physical therapy and chiropractic care. After this ordeal, I set out on the global trotting ambition because I noticed life is that frail after all. And then 5 years I embarked on a fitness journey with the goal of getting my skinny frame to look more durable and stronger overall. And today I am happy with the progress I have made.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this? 

I actually participated in the Vancouver fitness pro. Fitness model search and I won 3/5 categories. This was held in 2017.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”? 

Balance is key. Rest enough, Eat enough.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story? 

Haha yes, I do have a person her name is Sarah. She got me to do my first ever fitness competition. She just saw me across the gym approached me and told me you look really great, do you compete and at the time I simply said: “No it’s not for me”. She insisted and said you’d do great you have the body and the charisma for it. So all summer long she persisted telling me I should compete and she asked me to join the team from our City, that was going to the Vancouver fitness expo. And on Halloween that year I was on stage haha. Oh yeah, she trained with me every day for 3 months 6AM in the morning.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world? 

I have helped many people overcome their insecurities about their bodies and physiques thru campaigns I have with CrossFit and crash course dieting programs.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life? 

We climb mountains, not so the world can see us but so we can see the world. I relate to this quote a lot because I find that most journeys in life are hurdles and we have persevered thru such hardships. And normally at the end of it all, it may seem that we’ve finally made it to the top but at the top, as much as most of the world can see us, ultimately we get to see more of the world. That’s the reward.
