Interview with Augustus Cryns (@acryns)

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I went to an audio vocational school, where I was taught by top industry professionals. I quickly excelled in the program. Immediately began working for some of the music’s biggest names (John Feldmann, Dokken, Antiflag, New Years Day).

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

While working for John Feldmann, one day I was asked to play drums on (The Academy). This was a proving point, and I did a great job. The song I played drums on became a Single for the band, called “I’m Yours Tonight”. I’ll never forget that day.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Follow your heart. Life will place you where you need to be, as long as you’re willing to go.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

My biggest opportunities and jobs have come from my closest friends. I would be nowhere without my friends.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I help many artists acquire their dream, and that feels amazing.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Don’t sweat the small stuff”.
