Interview with Mark J. Branch

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Growing up my family owned and operated three companies in a small Indiana town. I grew up learning how to provide world-class customer service and knowing the importance of people being cared for throughout the transaction no matter how large or small. I’ve carried that passion over to my love of homes and thought there would be no better business than one that married the care of people with the purchase of a home. For almost two decades I have been doing just that.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?

I would have to say the most interesting situation occurred when a home inspector fell through the ceiling of one of my million dollar listings. Luckily he wasn’t hurt but made a huge mess as the plaster fell three stories into the foyer and destroyed Christmas decorations in my client’s home. She was surprisingly calm about the situation and all was made right.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

A balance of work and personal time is a must. However, this is much easier said than done. I highly recommend sticking to your schedule and realizing that family is a priority no matter how successful you become.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I’m so thankful for my father. I wouldn’t be where I am today had he not instilled in me the powerful work ethic that he modeled for me day in and day out. I’ve lost both parents and each day I work hard to make them proud of the son they raised.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I try very hard to be fair and equal to everyone I meet. It doesn’t matter if you are old or young, rich or poor everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

“Energy flows where attention goes”. The mind is the most powerful tool we process. It’s important to constantly be training your thoughts and energy on what you desire to achieve. If you think positively and keep your mind clear of negativity you will go far in life. I was very fortunate to be born into a successful family, but I lost all my wealth. It was only when I hit rock bottom and realized where I focused my attention is where the energy of the universe will take me was I able to rebuild myself from the ground up.
